A Look Back at the Visit
This day of exchange offered an opportunity to highlight the strength of Franco-Brazilian collaborations and to further strengthen the ties built over the years.
On June 16, Grenoble INP - UGA had the pleasure of welcoming an academic delegation from Brazil, composed of representatives from six partner universities involved in the BRAFITEC program. This day of exchange offered an opportunity to highlight the strength of Franco-Brazilian collaborations and to further strengthen the ties built over the years.
Taking advantage of their presence in France for the annual BRAFITEC Forum held from June 11 to 13 at Paris-Saclay, our Brazilian partners were invited to Grenoble to discover our scientific ecosystem and discuss ongoing projects. Established in 2003, the BRAFITEC program fosters partnerships between French engineering schools and Brazilian universities through initiatives in education, research, and student mobility in engineering. Grenoble INP - UGA currently coordinates eight active BRAFITEC projects in collaboration with various Brazilian institutions. Six of them were represented during this visit:
- UFCG (Federal University of Campina Grande)
- UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina)
- UFPB (Federal University of Paraíba)
- UFRGS (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul)
- UFRN (Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte)
- UNICAMP (University of Campinas)
The event aimed to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation while showcasing the achievements of these long-standing collaborations. These initiatives regularly enable Grenoble INP - UGA to welcome outstanding Brazilian students, many of whom go on to pursue doctoral studies within our institutions, actively contributing to the development of our scientific partnerships.
A Day of Discovery and Exchange
Organized as part of the Brazil–France Season 2025, the visit allowed guests to explore several key technological platforms at Grenoble INP - UGA, highlighting the diversity of its research fields:
- G2Elab (Grenoble INP - Ense³, UGA), specializing in smart electrical networks and systems
- S.mart (Grenoble INP - Génie industriel, UGA), focused on the industry of the future
- CROMA (Grenoble INP - Phelma, UGA), dedicated to materials characterization
- LMGP (Grenoble INP - Phelma, UGA), Laboratory of Materials and Physical Engineering
These visits offered the delegation valuable insights into the cutting-edge facilities available to students, faculty, and researchers, while also opening the door to future collaborations.
Productive Discussions and New Horizons
Throughout the day, working sessions provided opportunities to review current cooperation agreements, discuss the implementation of the BRAFITEC program, and explore future directions for collaboration—ranging from student exchanges and joint research projects to dual-degree PhD programs.
A Festive and Friendly Closing
The day ended on a festive note at the EVE venue, a vibrant hub of student life in Grenoble. Attendees—including students, researchers, and professors from both countries—enjoyed a dance performance inspired by Rio’s Carnival, adding a colorful cultural touch to this fruitful international gathering.
