Student and alumnus qualify for Beijing Olympics

Léo Le Blé Jaques, student at Polytech Grenoble - INP, UGA, has been selected for the first time for snowboarding. As for Romain Heinrich, an alumnus of Grenoble INP - Industrial Engineering, UGA and Grenoble IAE - INP, UGA and captain of France’s bobsleigh team, it will be his third Olympic selection!


 

Léo Le Blé Jaques: Snowboard Cross

Léo Le Blé Jaques is an engineering student at Polytech Grenoble - INP, specialising in materials and a high-level snowboard cross athlete. He is supported by the Inter’Val mechanism (link), implemented by UGA and its partners in order to work around the severe constraints encountered by students who are also international top athletes in winter sports.

World University Champion in 2017 and Vice-Champion of France in 2019, he finished 12th in the World Championships in 2021 and 3rd in the team world championships the same year. Léo receives backing from Fondation Grenoble INP.




 

Romain Heinrich: Bobsleigh

In 2012, Romain Heinrich completed his undergraduate degree while holding high-level athlete status at Grenoble INP - Industrial Engineering, then undertook a Master’s degree at Grenoble IAE - INP. He already has two Olympic Games under his belt, in 2014 and 2018, and is the head of France’s bobsleigh team.

Arriving in Grenoble in 2009 for his engineering studies, he decided to settle in the capital of the Alps and train. As a former shot-putter, he switched to bobsleigh in 2011 and participated in his first Olympics in 2014. In spring 2022, he will take up the post of Supply Chain Manager at ALEDIA in Echirolles in the greater Grenoble area.
