Are you interested in Europe’s future? Do you want to understand how students can contribute to shaping policies and ideas at the European level? Every year, more than 250 students from European University Alliances gather at the European Parliament in Strasbourg to discuss today’s major challenges — climate change, digital transformation, European democracy, and more. Their goal: to propose concrete and innovative solutions to help build the Europe of tomorrow.
What is the European student assembly (ESA)?
The European Student Assembly (ESA) is a deliberative event organized as part of the EUC Voices Erasmus+ project.
Over several months, participants work in international and interdisciplinary teams on one of the eight main themes, before meeting in Strasbourg to present their policy recommendations.
The ESA is much more than a conference — it’s a European, human, and civic experience. It offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with students from across Europe, develop skills in communication, argumentation, and teamwork, and see firsthand how young voices can influence European decision-making.
Selection Process
- After 2 November 2025, the list of eligible applications will be shared with all European University Alliances.
- Each alliance will review applications from its member institutions and propose a shortlist of around five students.
- The ESA Organising Team will then review these lists to ensure geographical, disciplinary, and gender diversity.
- Final selections will be communicated to the alliances and then to the selected students.
ESA objectives
- Give a voice to engaged and motivated students;
- Strengthen connections between European University Alliances;
- Promote participatory democratic processes across Europe;
- Encourage youth involvement in European political life.
