Our objective: to help you succeed in your studies and student life by providing personalized services for students facing situations related to illness or disability, whether permanent, chronic, or progressive.
To support you, you will find below some key reference points: steps to take, contact details, references to the legal framework, and other useful links to explore.
Important to know
Being not recognized as a student with a disability in your home country or home institution does not mean that you cannot receive support at Grenoble INP – UGA.
If you have questions about your situation or would like to know whether you may be considered a student with specific needs, please do not hesitate to contact the relevant service at the following address: accueil-sah@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr. Once your situation has been clarified, you will be able to follow the steps outlined below.
Likewise, if you already benefit from accommodations at your home institution, we invite you to follow the steps below in order to receive similar support at Grenoble INP – UGA.

The steps to follow
STEP 1 : Submit your request for support to the Disability Support Service (Service Accueil Handicap – SAH)
The SAH (Service Accueil Handicap) supports students with disabilities throughout their university studies. A social worker assists with social requests, housing, financial aid, transportation, and more.
For your studies,
The SAH implements adapted individual assistance in close collaboration with the university health centre, pedagogical teams and the director of studies at your school: human, technical and pedagogical assistance, as well as solutions for building and digital accessibility.
For your career plans
the SAH, together with the Career Guidance and Employability Services, helps you find internships, promote your application to employers and search for a job (preparation for interviews, creating a list of potential employers, etc.).
Submit your request for academic support online on the UGA website
STEP 2 : The SAH will contact you to discuss your personalised support plan (PAEH in french).
Depending on your situation and whether or not you have previously received accommodations, an appointment with the Grenoble University Health Center or the Valence Youth Health Center may be required. The SAH will inform you of the steps to follow.
The support plan will outline the proposed accommodations for exams and the study program. It will be based either on previously granted accommodations or, if you have not yet received any, on a medical opinion, as well as on an assessment of your needs and the difficulties encountered in your studies.
Note: the medical recommendation may be modified during the year if the recommendations are no longer appropriate for your situation.
STEP 3 : Submit your PAEH to your school
You must submit a signed copy of your PAEH to your school’s academic administration office. Once received, the teaching staff will decide which accommodations will be implemented, based on your personal situation and study path.
Your school will:
- issue an official document detailing the approved accommodations;
- upload this document to your secure online space (SNPJ) and inform you when it is available.
Without this step, no accommodation request can be considered.
We also recommend that you share your PAEH with :
- your teachers during both the first and second semesters.
- and if necessary, the Language Department, the Cross-Disciplinary Teaching Department, and the Sports Department (SUAPS).
Please note: processing time is required for exam accommodations to be implemented.
Some academic offices set deadlines for accepting PAEH requests, make sure to check.
