Summary

By joining our program you will gain scientific and engineering knowledge required to implement projects for the sustainable use of water, learning about the design and modeling of hydraulic structures and the modeling of flows in rivers and networks.

SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

Most of the courses will be taught at Grenoble INP - Ense3 the school of Energy, Water and Environment. Located within the outstanding scientific environment of Grenoble, the lush campus provides perfect working conditions for motivated career oriented students. The teaching method is a gradual approach towards autonomy and knowledge appropriation: traditional lectures, tutorials, practical research training at highly technological platforms, use of software packages, multidisciplinary practical projects. Innovation and entrepreneurship are highly encouraged and developed. A student coach will be assigned to each student to guide them throughout the program.

    Laboratories

    Each student will be required to complete an internship either at an industrial firm or in a research laboratory. This may be undertaken in France or abroad. This is an opportunity to consolidate and discover working methods and to learn how to manage real projects. A written dissertation will be required at the end of the training period to be defended in front of a jury.

Entry requirements

You can apply at the 1st year of the master if you have a Bachelor degree in either Science (BSc) or Engineering (BEng) including courses in hydraulic, mechanical and civil Engineering

You can apply directly at the 2nd year of the master if you have a Master degree or a 4 years of higher education level

Tuition fees

Industrial and institutional grants are available for high level students
Training period in companies are paid.

12 000 euros/year if you have stopped your studies for more than 2 years (Lifelong learning)

Program

The master in Hydraulic and Civil Engineering offers, for the most able undergraduate students, a 20 month full time 120 ECTS state-of-art technical training in hydraulics, civil engineering, hydraulic works and infrastructures, hydrology, and water resources management.

Expected learning outcomes

Career prospects for graduates are very good as the whole program is designed to provide industry oriented training in a scientific environment. Graduates may go on to work in companies or may want to continue on with a PhD at one of one of the associated research laboratories of the school or in numerous universities all over the world.
