US News & World Report ranks Grenoble INP 3rd best French Engineering School

US News and World Report, the American magazine, has published its best global universities rankings for the first time. This ranking is composed of 21 subject areas and an overall ranking of the world’s best 500 universities by continent and by country.
The top 10 universities, all American or British, are as follows based on their position: Harvard, MIT, Berkeley, Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, CalTech, UCLA, University of Chicago and Columbia University.
Of the 500 universities ranked, 243 are European and 22 are French. Grenoble INP was 13th amongst the French universities and 3rd amongst the French Engineering schools behind Ecole Polytechnique and ENS Paris.


Grenoble INP and Grenoble Alpes University among the top 500 universities


US News rated the universities based on their academic research performance, their reputation and their intellectual impact. Some of the indicators used to establish the ranking were the global and regional research reputation, the number of publications, the influence of the researchers in the research world and international collaborations.

Grenoble INP is mentioned twice in the US News rankings. The Group ranked 316th in the world and 88th in terms of Engineering. In a purely French context, it was the 3rd top Engineering School and ranked1st in the country in terms of engineering academic training overall.
It is worth mentioning that the Joseph Fourier University and the University of Savoie, both members of the Grenoble Alpes University alongside Grenoble INP, are also included in the rankings.

The Joseph Fourier University was mentioned 8 times, it is rated the 116th best university (3rd French University) and is amongst the top 100 universities in the following categories: Chemistry, Environment and Ecology, Geosciences, Engineering, Physics, Space Science and Materials Science.

Finally, the University of Savoie placed 352nd in the global rankings (15th French University).
