Summer Camp : Grenoble INP at Indian’s hour

8 engineering students from Grenoble INP, institute of engineering (6 from Genie Industriel and 2 from Ensimag) participated at the Summer Camp on Technology and Culture, which took place from July 8th to July 19th 2019 in India. This is one of the actions planned as part of IDEX INDDEP project to develop international relationships with India, building on our partnership with Amrita University.
Warmly welcomed by Indian students at Coimbatoire Campus during Summer camp’s first week, the 8 engineering students from Grenoble INP attended the opening ceremony hosted by Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, dean of the engineering school. After a brief presentation of Amrita University, students made their counterparts discover Indian culture.
After their first meal on the campus, Grenoble INP’s students attended a workshop where they had the opportunity to manipulate Arduino** modules by pair. They also discovered low-cost applications developed by Amrita’s team, which are adapted to India’s actual society. For example, an application dedicated to look after senior citizens, which detects falls and generates phone calls.

During their second week, students joined Bangalore for cultural visits in Mysore, then Bengalore city and a safari at the Bandipur Tiger Reserve. Students also visited industrial sites of our partners in India: Capgemini, Schneider Electric and Indian’s companies.

Discoveries of local industries, meetings, immersion in India’s culture and yoga classes at dawn, our students were very busy.

This Summer Camp is one of the actions of IDEX INDDEP* project which involves the launch of a double degree with Grenoble INP – Ensimag & Grenoble INP – Génie Industriel and an integrated program allowing Indian students to study in Grenoble after 3 years of their Bachelor degree.

The purpose is to create a strong collaboration between Amrita University and Grenoble INP. This will help the French school to radiate in India, thanks to innovative pedagogical actions and by increasing academic mobility.
