Launch of CSAW'19

From November 6th to November 9th, 2019, for the third year in a row, Grenoble INP - Esisar will host the European final of the largest academic cyber security competition in the world: the Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW); in partnership with New York University, NYU Abu Dhabi and the Indian Institute of Technology.

Who competes in the CSAW?

The competitions are open to students from all over Europe and the finalists will receive support for their travel and accommodation expenses. The best students will be in contact with leading professionals who will act as jusges, they will attend expert interventions on new issues and meet with recruiters eager to quickly strengthen their cybersecurity teams.

The finalists: high school students, computer science, embedded systems and networks students, as well as PhD students in the field of cybersecurity.
Exhibitors: industrial, institutional and event partners.
Visitors: students, industry, teachers and researchers interested in cybersecurity.

In 2018, nearly 400 elite students, qualified among more than 12,000 participants representing 98 countries in the preliminary rounds, gathered for the finals from 8 to 10 November. The European final in Valence brought together nearly 110 finalist students representing more than 23 European universities and competing in 4 competitions in front of more than 20 judges, recognized industrial and academic experts in cybersecurity.

The competitions organized for CSAW Europe are:

Digital Forensics contest for high school students RED :

Teams of 1 to 3 high school students enrolled in a school and mentored by a coach are invited to participate in online competition after which the top ten teams will be selected to participate in the final to be held in Grenoble INP Esisar. Young people will face a "challenge" in the field of cybersecurity.

From today: provision of resources to prepare for the tests
Online qualifying tests: September 20th to 29th
Final at Grenoble INP - Esisar on November 9th.

Applied Research Competiton, dedicated to PhD Students in the fields of Cyber security :

Participants are invited to submit an article published in the year. The best contributions will then be selected and the 10 best doctoral students will be invited to present their work during the CSAW event before a panel of experts

Embedded Security Challenge, dedicated to Security of Embedded and Cyber-Physical Systems:

To qualify, students must identify the vulnerabilities of a given system and then propose adequate countermeasures. The 10 qualified teams will then be invited to give a demonstration in front of a jury of experts.

November 7th & 8th: CSAW Final

Capture The Flag, dedicated to network and computer science :

Students must solve computer security problems. Then the 10 best teams (of 4) will come in Valence for the final.
