3rd renewal of the international master programme FAME (Functionalized Advanced Materials and Engineering)

The master programme FAME (Functionalized Advanced Materials and Engineering) has been awarded for the third time the European label “Erasmus Mundus Joint master degree” and becomes FAME+. Grenoble INP – Phelma, graduate school of engineering in Physics, Electronics and Materials Science, coordinates the project through Dr. Eirini SARIGIANNIDOU, lecturer and researcher of the school and head of the Master on behalf of the consortium of universities associated for this programme. Grenoble INP’ financial and administrative services ensure the implementation of this European project, which has a budget of approximately 3 million euros, the majority of which is dedicated to student scholarships. This excellence program will be open to 3 cohorts of international students from September 2018 to August 2022. The consortium is currently recruiting the first cohort.

About FAME+

The master program FAME+ is a two-year degree to complete within 7 partner universities which started collaborating in 2007. France, Belgium, Portugal and Germany pooled the expertise of their research centres in the field of Advanced Materials Science, a  synergy that allows them to offer a high level of academic training and research and development in the synthesis, characterization and processing of materials and focus on nanomaterials, hybrids and ceramics. By joining this program, students spend a year abroad in one of the partner universities.

A final-year internship is also carried out in the industrial sector or in a research laboratory in Europe. FAME+ reinforced its network of associated industrial partners with Schneider Electric Industries, Merck, Bosch termotecnologia, Raiz, Solvay, AGC Glass Europe SA, Robert Bosch Gmbh, as well as its network of associated research partners with Certech, the CEA, Fraunhofer Institute For Silicate Research, LIST (Luxemburg Institute of Science and Technology), ICMAB-CSIC, IMEC and EMMI.

Once the program is completed, students receive a double Master’s degree in Materials Science from Grenoble INP and from the partner university in which they spent their second year.
