EnerBee develops energy-independent sensors

EnerBee  was created in early 2014 to utilise research conducted by a G2ELab and CEA Leti team. It develops energy generators that through movement replace the cells and batteries in general public and industrial connected objects. The unique association of magnetism and the piezoelectric technology allows its products to generate electrical power from all types of movement, even slow and irregular movement and thereby makes the electronic systems energy-independent.

A patented technology
A large number of industrial manufacturers from diverse sectors such as aeronautics, home automation, access control, smart water and gas meters are interested in this technology that is protected by five patents. “For instance, we have worked with SKF that manufactures ball bearings. In the future, our generators may equip their bearings in order to analyse bearing movements with the goal of facilitating predictive maintenance, stated Jérôme Delamare, professor at Grenoble INP – Ense3 and researcher at G2Elab, who currently heads the start-up with Pierre Coulombeau, an entrepreneur who has already founded several companies. We are currently working on a project to equip gas meters. The goal is to position a stand-alone sensor on the movement system that is now used to turn the meter display in order to remotely transmit consumption information”. At the same time, EnerBee is carrying out work to reduce the dimensions of these generators in order to broaden the scope of possible applications. The energy capacity generated by the EnerBee technology appeals to the “wearable” products market for items such as watches, bracelets, eye glasses and connected clothing. With its solution, Enerbee hopes to address this booming ambitious market by bringing about a genuine economical and environmentally-friendly revolution in the way these products are used.
