Advanced academic program in fluid mechanics including advanced courses in fluid mechanics, heat transfers, transport phenomena…and a 5 month internship, conducted in a laboratory or an industrial research center.

Objectives

The Master degree in Fluid Mechanics and Energetics englobes an advanced academic program in fluid mechanics and applications in:
  • Energy (turbo-machinery, nuclear energy, oil industry)
  • Sustainable energy (wind or solar energy) and development involving hydraulics (rivers, off-shore and marine science),
  • Transport phenomena and combustion in aerodynamics or space sciences,
  • Chemical engineering and transport phenomena in many areas:
    • microfluidics with bio-assays, biotechnologies, MEMS or actuators,
    • metallurgy,
    • petroleum, oil & gas industry.
A high level education is given based on thorough scientific and technological knowledge.

Entry requirements

Courses are taught in English - B1 level required !

English language: B1 level. TOEFL: computer-based: 140 / IBT: 60 / paper-based : 457. TOEFL institution code is 6050, Department : Ense3
TOEIC : 550 - IELTS: 4.5

The Master's degree in Fluid Mechanics and Energetics is a highly competitive academic program (duration: one year, M2 level).
Applicants selection is done on the basis of prior academic and/or scientific achievement as documented by academic transcripts, a cover letter, references, and standardized test scores. Students from countries where English language is not the primary language are required to provide TOEFL test scores. To get master degree, admitted students must obtain the certified level B2.
For students with a foreign degree, their registration is definitely authorised by the Commitee for Academic Accreditation at Grenoble university (CVA). Several meetings are organised several times a year (February, March, April, May, June) to select applications from abroad.
You are strongly encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

The selection of applicants is based on the following criteria:

Quality of academic profile established on the scores obtained during previous years, especially the ones which help to quantify the discipline-specific prerequisites: fluid mechanics, thermal sciences, chemical engineering, mechanics...

Tuition Fees

University studies in France are relatively inexpensive compared to most European and North American countries, as Education is highly subsidized by the French governement;

Registration in this master requires payment of a relatively modest registration fee which is revised annually by the French Minister of Education. Thanks to generous support from the French Education Ministry, annual registration fees are 261.10 Euros (in 2017-18 - updated each year). In addition to this registration fee, students are also required to subscribe to the national health insurance program, requiring a payment of 217 Euros (in 2017-2018 - updated each year).

Program

  • Course duration : 1 year program
  • Internships abroad : The second semester of the Master is devoted to internship, conducted in a laboratory or an industrial research center. The following criteria must be taken into account:
    Duration of the internship: between 5 and 6 months
    Manuscript must follow standard criteria of a scientific paper
    Defense expected by end of June
    The primarily scientific contents of the internship englobes at least one of the following topics: fluid mechanics, energetics, chemical engineering, heat transfer or mass, multiphysics coupling including at least one transport phenomena ... etc..

Program

The first semester (30 ECTS) is restricted to theoretical lectures and examinations. Fundamental and specialized lectures may be completed by personnal projects.

The second semster (30 ECTS) includes a research internship (24 ECTS) whose aim is the development of research abilities. The research internship is completed by a lecture (6ECTS).
