Summary

This is a one semester program at the Master's level meant for exchange students who are interested in getting some introduction to biomedical engineering.

This program is at the interface between engineering and life sciences. It consists of both a theoretical and a practical program applied to Biology and Medecine. Professors include professionals from medical hospitals and biomedical companies.

It is the result of a partnership with Université Joseph Fourier (UJF) in Grenoble.

Two options are available:

Medical Imaging: design and innovation in medical imaging devices (Xrays, MRI, Ultrasound) and radiotherapy.

Implantable materials and nanobiology: design and innovation in biomaterials for tissue engineering, innovative molecular markers for biology and medecine and also minituarized devices in contact with living matter.

SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

Classes are held at Grenoble INP and at the Université Joseph Foruier on Campus. Labwork takes place at Phelma, one of Grenoble INP's engineering schools, as well as at the Centre Interuniversitaire de Microélectrique, at the Centre Universitaire de Biologie Experimentale and in various other labs in Grenoble.

Specificities

Pre-requisites

A good general training in Physics and Engineering sciences is required including:

  • Signal processing and analysis
  • Interaction between radiation and matter
  • Optics and spectroscopy
  • Fluid mechanics
  • Basics of Organic Chemistry
For students aho are not acquainted with these fields, an introduction course plus practicals is provided in the following fields:
  • Molecular and cellular Biology
  • Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

Key features:

  • A truly intersdisciplinary training at the crossroads between Technology, biological and medical applications
  • The Grenoble environment provides many opportunities for internships an academic or industrial labs. Students can therefore apply for an internship from February to July for an additional 30 ECTS credits. Specific regulations apply.
  • 50% of the students start a PhD thesis after their Master's degree.
