Popularising science

I am involved in different activities for science popularisation. During the international year of crystallography I have participated to the creation of the web site krystallopolis
I am co-organiser of the scientific game jam, aiming at promoting video games for science popularization. Recent realisations can be found on the Grenoble Game Lab site
I am participating to the organisation of the cycle conférence d'exception Univ. Grenoble Alpes.

Summer school organization

I have initiated the International School on Aperiodic Crystals held in 2010 in Carqueiranne, in 2013 in Bayreuth and Antwerpt in 2016.
I have been co-organiser of severall of the Euroschool within the European C-MAC network

Activités de Recherche

I am working along three main directions:

  • Quasicrystals and complex intermetallic compounds, and in particular their atomic structure, defects, phason fluctuations and lattice dynamics. Those studies are carried out experimentally by elastic or inelastic x-ray and neutron scattering (including diffuse scattering), using laboratory equipments or large scale facilities such as ILL, LLB, ESRF, SOLEIL, Diamond, SPRING-8 ... This work is realized through international collaborations  within the European C-MAC network, together with teams in Japan and USA, and combines experimental work with theory and atomic scale simulations.
  • Lattice dynamics and heat transport properties in Ge clathrates for thermoelectric applications and in structurally complex materials.

  • Coherent x-ray scattering for the study of the mechanical properties and plastic deformation at the nano-scale.
