Learn French at Grenoble INP

Grenoble INP provides French language courses for foreign students throughout the year; these courses are dispensed by CUEF Grenoble.
 
Smile, you're in France! Learn enough French to make yourself understood, understand what your professors are saying, and take exams. 

If you are enrolling for a course taught in French, we strongly recommend that you aim to complete at least a B1 level CECR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in French (see the Language Skills Self-Assessment Grid).


3 sessions per year

For newcomers:
  • One week of intensive French course from August 28th to September 1st, 2023 : 4 hours per day during one week between 8:30 am to 12:30 am.

Two extensive sessions of French courses - 2 hours, one day a week between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm or on Thursday afternoon
  • 1st semester:  from September 25th to December 4th, 2023
  • 2nd semester: from January 29th to April 15th, 2024

ECTS credits

Intensive week, September (20 hours): 1,5 ECTS
Extensive course, 1st semester (20 hours): 1,5 ECTS
Extensive course, 2nd semester (20 hours): 1,5 ECTS


Course objectives

  • Improve your understanding, oral and written skills
  • Understand and produce different types of oral and written expressions (conversational and / or specialised French)
  • Become familiar with French academic and social environments (context and methodologies)

Levels taught

French levels A1 to C1 of the CECR (Common European Framework of Reference)

Registration

Who can enrol?
French courses are intended for foreign students enrolled at Grenoble INP: exchange students, dual degree, international programs, or any student for whom French courses are mandatory, in accordance to the schedule offered by your Grenoble INP school. Attendance to all lessons is mandatory.

How to register?
For registration, contact the international office of your school.


mandatory online assessment of your proficiency

  • In July, you will receive an email from your school's international office advising you of the steps to take your online registration and online assessment.
     
  • 3 days before the start of your classes, the CUEF will send you all the necessary information (room, hour, group/level). You will also find them on this website.

Deadlines to take the online assessment:
  • for the intensive week course, September: July 20th, 2023
  • for 1st semester: September 6th, 2023
  • for 2nd semester: January 15th, 2024

Please note that this test is not an exam, and is solely designed to help us determine your French language proficiency.
If you are complete beginner, don’t pass the test but send an email to the international relations office of your school.
