Grenoble INP provides French courses for foreign students throughout the year; these courses are given by the Alliance Françaiseof Grenoble.
Intensive and extensive courses Smile, you're in France! That means you have to know enough French to make yourself understood, understand what your professors are saying, and take exams. The French courses provided by Grenoble INP can help foreign students reach these goals; students should have a level of French of at least A2 in the Common European Framework of Reference (CECR) for Languages. One week of intensive French courses (20 hoursfrom August 30th to September 3rd) --> for new comers only (see Integration Week)
Two sessions of extensive French courses (1 per semester: 20 hours and 30 hours)

In addition, the Bureau International Etudiant organises events for foreign students to learn more about Grenoble and the university environment.
Who can enrol? French courses are intended - primarily - for foreign students enrolled in exchange programmes or dual-degree programmes. Registration is done via the on-line application or with the person in charge of International Relations of your school.

For PhD students and laboratory interns, if their laboratory or home university is willing to finance the cost: see with Alliance française de Grenoble.

Mandatory French on-line test To take the on-line test of French level:

After receiving the confirmation of your login and password by e-mail, you will be able to take the test.
You will need about an hour to complete the test. In your own interest, we strongly advise you to stick to the guidelines!
NOTE: This test is not a exam, it helps us determine your level of language. You will not receive a result.
Please, be careful!Taking the test does not automatically enrol you in a French course. Your school international programme director will confirm enrolment in the extensive French courses.
Deadlines to take the mandatory* online test:
Intensive week 1 (August 2009): May 31st, 2010
Extensive session 1 (October to December 2009): September 17th, 2010
Extensive session 2 (February to May 2010): November 12th, 2010
*NOTE: The on-line test is compulsory for the first registration at French courses.Then you should not retake the test.
