Our research aims at understanding the interactions between cells and their environment, which are integral to many cellular processes, including signal transduction, gene expression, growth, differentiation, and survival. In particular, we are studying how the biochemical and mechanical properties of the microenvironment regulate cell adhesion, migration, differentiation and tissue formation. To this end, we develop novel approaches based on micro- and nanofabrication techniques to control and modulate the microenvironment of the cell.
