With 81.7 out of 100, Grenoble INP finished second overall in the Usine Nouvelle rankings, just behind the Ecole Polytechnique, and regained first place for research. This is the second time that the group has occupied second spot on the Usine Nouvelle podium for French engineering schools, and it also came second in 2012 in the world rankings of QS World University Rankings Engineering & Technology!

Usine Nouvelle remarks that: Even though the lack of engineers in France is the subject of debate, this degree course is far from experiencing a crisis" before adding that recruitment is gradually diversifying, with a larger proportion of admissions based on examination of records.
As well as coming second in the general classification and first for research (7th in 2012), Grenoble INP is also classified in 5th position for international opportunities (10th in 2012), 11th for professional integration (12th in 2012) and 26th for financial resources (35th in 2012). The article also highlights the group's contribution to start-ups and its partnership with Grenoble Angels.

And good things often come in twos: Grenoble INP has also been a hit in the annual Industrie & Technologies rankings for engineering schools based on the quality of their R&D work. It is the same trio as in 2012: Mines ParisTech, Grenoble INP and Polytechnique. This year, however, Grenoble INP has stolen first place from the Paris-based school, in particular for its better retention of doctoral and post-doctoral students. The Ecole Polytechnique, known by the nickname X, has retained second place thanks to its fine results in two out of the three criteria: research and innovation assessment, turnover generated by research contacts, and the number of doctoral students.
