RobAIR: the House Robot

RobAIR

In addition to classes offered by schools such as Phelma, Esisar and Ense3, Grenoble INP students can explore robotics by participating in fabMSTIC or Ensimag's fab lab. The latter has developed a robotics service platform in partnership with Polytech Grenoble. The platform provides researchers with an inexpensive means to carry out experiments in life-like environments. The platform was recently upgraded to include telepresence capacities.
Students have collaborated on various phases of the platform's development, including mechanics, automation, electronics, sensors, acquisition chains, energy management and robotics programming. In the case of RobAIR Social Touch, the goals range from virtual museum tours of the Casemate to a virtual presence that would allow sick children to participate in their classes or seniors to interact with their families. "RobAIR was specifically designed to meet certain requirements. We then reviewed and corrected it in accordance with feedback from our experiences." The robot was presented during the Experimenta show in October 2015.
