The three boards

In accordance with the regulations, Grenoble Institute of Technology has three boards which manage and set its educational and scientific policies and allocate the financial and human resources required to implement these policies. Each board has a specific role laid out in the French education code and in Grenoble Institute of Technology's statutes.

These boards are made up of elected student representatives, staff and figures appointed from business or associations which work in partnership with the institute.

Board of Directors

"The Board of Directors shall set the institute's policies, in particular focusing on the contents of the institutional contract. It shall vote on the budget and approve accounts. In accordance with national priorities, it shall allocate the jobs assigned by the relevant ministries. [...]
It shall set Grenoble Institute of Technology's general direction in teaching, as proposed by the Board of Studies and University Life and for research, as proposed by the Scientific Board. The board which manages each component shall set its own objectives in the context of its own strategic direction and specialties."

"The Scientific Board shall propose policy directions to the Board of Directors in the areas of research, scientific and technical documentation and the distribution of research credits. It shall propose the establishment, restructuring or closure of laboratories after having consulted with the relevant schools, institutes or universities."

"The Board of Studies and University Life shall propose policy directions to the Board of Directors as regards initial and professional development training courses and shall assess applications for accreditation of new training tracks. It shall takes all measures as to orient students and accredit their studies, facilitate their entry into the world of work, promote cultural, sporting, social or associative activities for students. [...]
It shall provide the Board of Directors with an annual report on subsidies granted to student associations and their use."
