The European Seal of Approval "HR Excellence in Research" (HRS4R)

The institutions of the new University Grenoble Alpes that is going to be created on 1st January 2020 are engaging in the process of obtaining the label for their strategies by following the European procedure called HRS4R (Human Resources Strategy for Researchers).
By committing to this project, the members of the new university contributes to the further development of the European Research Area (ERA) and agrees to line up its policies with the European Charter for Researchers & the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

At each step of the project, the community of researchers and the R&D support personnel will be involved. Thus, anyone interested in joining the working group, is invited to send an e-mail to the following e-mail address: hrs4r@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr

What are the benefits of obtaining the HR Excellence in Research award?

By lining up the institutional policies with regard to the 40 principles of the Charter & Code, the institutions contribute to enhance the mobility and the career development of researchers. This work improves recruitment procedures and working conditions; making the institutions more attractive internationally.

The HRS4R is based on 4 main principals:
  • Ethical and professional aspects
  • Recruitment
  • Working conditions and social security
  • Training
The award is also an asset for obtaining funding from Horizon 2020, a flagship program for financing R & D activities in Europe. Article 32 of the grant agreement within Horizon 2020 requires the beneficiaries to take necessary measures to implement the principles of the Charter & Code, mostly those related to work conditions, recruitment processes and career development.

The logo « HR Excellence in Research », awarded by the European Commission, is a way of identifying on the European portal ‘Euraxess Jobs’ those institutions and organisations committed to ensuring a stimulating working environment, favourable for researchers.

This initiative is part of an ongoing process of improvement of all institutions and will have a far-reaching impact stretching beyond researchers to all personnel. The work will contribute to further improvement of existing actions and initiatives aimed at enhancing working conditions and the general attractiveness of the new University for the recruitment of international talents.
