Minatec, le pôle d'innovation en micro et nanotechnologies

Minatec in brief
Minatec, the leading micro - and nanotechnologies innovation cluster in Europe, is the brainchild of the Grenoble INP group and CEA Grenoble. It is backed by the French Government and all local authorities.
This cluster brings together the key players in the Grenoble area who influence the development of micro- and nanotechnologies. It is also a part of the global competitive cluster Minalogic that has been approved by the Government since July 2005.

The stakeholders

  • A school of engineering, Grenoble-INP Phelma, an interuniversity training centre in microelectronics and nanotechnologies, CIME, and the Grenoble branch of the National institute of nuclear sciences and techniques (INSTN)
  • Two major CEA laboratories, Léti and INAC, and the Federation of Micro- and Nanotechnologies (FMNT), which aggregates four laboratories of CNRS and the universities of Grenoble and Chambéry
  • Approximately 20 hosted companies, ranging from the R&D laboratory of the major group to the start-up

Taking things a step further

Minatec brings together, on a single cluster, training institutions, fundamental and applied research laboratories, industrial development and research activities (start-up, businesses), specialised in micro- and nanotechnologies. This cluster promotes the control of the entire body of knowledge and technologies so as to design micro and nano-objects, from development of the component materials to their use, in particular software and embedded systems.
Minatec provides manufacturers with the opportunity to enter into partnerships with its research teams. It puts them in contact with the most relevant laboratory related with the given research topic. It helps to compose a mixed project management team (manufacturer + researcher). It provides support in conducting the development project, as part of a multi-annual contract, up to the stage desired by the manufacturer: demonstrator, prototype, pilot lots, etc. It also proposes turnkey layout and fitting out of the designated areas within the high technology building BHT: clean rooms, laboratories, offices, dimensioned based on the extent of the project. Moreover, Minatec can provide assistance in technological marketing and intellectual property activities from support in creating innovative businesses right up to the funding stage
