Admission

  • Who should apply? : Bac + 5
  • Location : GRENOBLE

Entry requirements

A thesis lasts three years.  Thesis applications can be made at any time of the year.  The following conditions are required for a thesis application:

- Funding must be secured for the total duration of the thesis.

- The candidate must be the holder of a French Master qualification or similar 2nd Cycle Master qualification from an educational course offering an indication of the candidate's aptitude for research. For holders of a master's degree or equivalent obtained abroad (the case for a third of doctoral students) admission is decided by the Collège Doctoral committee after external examination for doctoral students of Grenoble Institute of Technology or by the Commission de Validation des Acquis Académiques for doctoral students applying to Université Joseph Fourier.

It is possible to undertake a thesis under joint-supervision between Grenoble Institute of Technology or Université Joseph Fourier and a foreign university.  This is the case for around 20% of doctoral students.
